People enter into contracts all the time, often without appreciating that they have done so or without understanding the full impact of their agreement. This important session will introduce participants to basic principles of contract law and provide them with practical tips when negotiating their own contracts. Specific attention will be paid to clauses designed to limit liability and to enforcing contracts.

JEREMY LOVELL joined Bull, Housser & Tupper LLP's Engineering and Construction Practice Area in 2005. His practice focuses on assisting clients to resolve professional liability and construction disputes, including builders' liens issues. Prior to coming to BHT, he practiced insurance law for another major law firm in Vancouver.

Jeremy regularly represents clients in the Supreme Court of British Columbia and also has appeared in the Federal Court. In addition to his experience before courts and tribunals, Jeremy has represented clients in many successful mediations and negotiations.

Jeremy lectures on tort law and builders' liens to engineering students at Simon Fraser University and BCIT. At the University of Victoria, he served as the Co-ordinating Editor of the Appeal Law Review.
